I need a pirate machinist.
This not unimog related in the least but here it is.
I've got a buddy that needs some prototype machining done and I can't find a shop in my area who apparently wants to make money. The situation is pretty simple; buddy filed a patent on a thing and hand built a demonstrator copy. I took the demonstrator and made some production drawings and now I need a shop to build at least one and probably 5 of the main body of the thing to work out the final shape and optimize it for series production. I'd need a metal machinist to cut specifically what's in the drawing as well as offer a shop/machinist revised copy with notes to update the drawings. If any of you pirate machinists want some paying busy work let me know, PM me or drop me an email at ArsTechnica (AT) hvc.rr.com and I'll send you a copy of the drawings and you can let me know if you want to be involved. |

Suppose I should fill that damn box out.
I'm in NY but this item is smaller than a soda (or pop out west) can and frankly light enough to handle shipping it around. I just don't understand my local shops, telling me they need a minimum piece count which I understand but then deaf as posts to the concept of prototype machining to get a drawing package that reflects what it is we need to make in a machine ready form. Weps, anyone in specific I should ask for at Branik? And is Weps from the pirate board good enough for a referral? It's not name dropping if it serves a purpose right? |

I think there are a few hungry machine shops on the board here.
Try user names BarbedWireOffRoad, MC, or Ballistic Eng. See Ballistic's thread here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=822257 Or, give www.emachineshop.com a try. Their free 3D design software is pretty cool, and after you design your part, it gets quoted by many competing machine shops. Another bonus is that you can export your design to a dxf file.

Well I already have the drawings, kinda what I do for a living. What I need is a machinist.
I'll drop them a line as well.
