Dodge Ram Truggy on Mogs

Some of you have seen my buildup on pavementsucks but I thought I should let everyone else in on whats happening.

I got a couple of parts and toys in the mail over the past two weeks.

Lincoln 175HD.

Full 4 link kit from Ballistic Fab. All laser cut and they are the nicest pieces Ive seen.

I got the 3.0 joints for the lowers, then the 2.63's for the uppers. I'm going to run square tube lowers and round tube uppers.

How big the 3.0's are. I was surprised lol.

F-O-A 2.5" 4" travel air bumps, great price!

Then I got a ridiculous good deal on brand new 2.5 18" travel fox air shocks. 550 for 2 and free shipping from Machine Wave. They were only used for mockup.
They are BIG.

An aluminum 30 gallon fuel tank, Im just going to drop in the stock dodge fuel pump and make it work.

Im using 1 3/4" hrew tubing for the back half, then connecting it by an exo cage to the rock sliders that will be made out of 2.5"x 3"x 3/16" wall rectangular tubing.

Im basing it off of Jason Payne's truggy that JR and a bunch of other people finished. It will be a cross between that and the rock dodge truggy that was also built here.

Then how the back will connect through the exo cage to the sliders.

Damn this is some great work...hope mine looks half as good.

Then came my 46's.

I found a better deal on some xl's instead of xml's so I took them. 90% tread. 4 tires for $599 plus $350 shipping from NC so its a great deal on tires.

Heres pics of the actual tires. Pretty much still new.

The build started, well at least the tear down.

FINALLY got my new wheels in, after 1 month of getting dragged around by a wheel dealer, my tire company I use bitched the guy into selling us some way nice Moto Metals for under $200 a piece! Then I got free delivery of the tires to my house....SWEET!

Ok so I began by pulling the front dana 60 out, that thing is a beast when your dragging it on the driveway into the garage alone :bluecry:

Then I started pulling the old wires I ran for my electric fans and spot lights. I pulled both the batteries and I'll be moving them to the back of the cab or somewhere in the backhalf.

I threw away the headlights. One was completely flooded and started to rust when I sank the truck. The other one was good but its in the trash now.

And the new (3rd) 46re awaiting to be put in.

Took the rest of the crap off the front end. Its awaiting a date with a torch and my new welder.

Then today I got the rear wheels and tires mounted finally and junked the bed.

I'm going to be moving the rear axle forward about 8-10 inches to fill that gap behind the cab.

That's all till next monday. Going out of town for my moto safety class.

Got the rear axle disconnected and got a better look at what the wheel base will look like.

Rear axle is pushed forward 8"s and the front axle is pushed forward 10-12"s.

8 inches forward was as far as i could push it to take a picture because the gas tank is in the way.
I plan on pushing the rear end maybe 3-5 inches farther forward on top of the 8 inches already but it still has to look good and not all stubby.

Oh and I just settled a deal on 2 steering unimog 404 axles for $1600 delivered to my doorstep! Should be getting those next weekend or the last week of the month. The 8 lug adapters are gona be $570 and mog to american brake lines are $48.

Thats an understatement lol. With the mogs I think I'll have pver 8k into it. And the spending started in early July

But I have almost all my metal I'll need to get this done. I really just need to buy bolts and heavy walled tubing for my rear link arms...well front and rear now unless I go ahead and buy Rock Krawler arms for the front and just make new mounts.

Cut the front end about 8 inches.

I'll still be able to use my originalish steering box mounting location and the front axle will be mounted as far forward as possible to the end of the frame.

Also threw a brand new water pump and pulley on it today while I had the front end apart. To anyone who have swapped those with a "normal" dodge, I'd hate to be you lol. Was super easy for me and only took like 30 actual mins (minus vatozone fawking up giving me the wrong pump).

love the stance in post #5, are you trying to keep a low ride height like that? The front wheels look better pulled back in towards the cab, but with the tall mog axle, i am guessing it wont clear..

It only took me about an hour or 1.5 hours to do it in a DD 1/2t dodge. What makes you think they are hard to do?

The build looks good. Would you be interested in selling some parts off of your front dana 60?

Yeah I dont really want to lift it anymore than I have to. I think the way it sits, will be around 6"s of lift. I used to run 3"s of lift and 38's.

The front end needs to be out far because I dont want to cut into the cab in uptravel, these are 46" xl's. And I also cut 8 inches off the front of the frame.

Ive heard horror stories or people having to change that 1" hose that goes underneath the front accessories mount.

What do you need off the axle? Cuz I have a guy thats picking them up this weekend.

You pull off the complete accessory mounting bracket and you can get a straight shot at everything. If you still have A/C all you have to do is set it on top of the motor so that it is out of your way, otherwise you could just pull it completely out of the truck.

If the guy is picking up the whole axle then don't worry about it. I was kind of interested in the inner axle shafts and possibly the R+P depending on what they were.

Looks like a good start. I'll be watching this one. Are you going to cut the tires? You have a bender yet? What do you have? Have you bought the Mog's yet?

Not cutting the tires since their basically brand new still. Got a bender, it only goes to 90* but it aint a poop pipe bender.

I have all my tubing for the back half, exo, and sliders, just need metal for link arms. And the mogs are coming possibly this weekend or early next week (the owner is a firefighter so gota go around his schedule)

1950 olds coupe

Was my uncles until he passed on about 12 years ago. My parents kept this car and my other uncle took the 1950 merc and dropped 50k into it. The olds was painted by Rod Powell, he's a pretty famous car painter out there back in the day.

Once I move out of the house I'm taking it with me and throwing a painless wiring harness and 4 wheel disks. It has a 350 carbed with a brand new th350 tranny...i think its a b&m built unit.

And yes those are sombreros, we're mexican lol
