Yep, you beat me to it. I was typing when this was posted.

This is typical FS...close the area because they know that they have no leg to stand on and they will push things back for YEARS thinking that we will go away or lose interest. They want the time to try to figure out a way to prove that the area is causing what they are alledging...BECAUSE AS OF NOW THEY CAN'T PROVE ANYTHING!

I stand by what I said, I believe we can see Tellico open again and Southern will continue to fight. It's going to take all we have and all of you to make this happen. Please don't let the FS drive you away...they are trying to make you not care! They are manipulating us into accepting their crap!

So, needless to say, we at Southern and Rescue Tellico were ready for this and will be taking legal action now that the decision is out.

And, by the way...I hate to pimp for cash, but we really need money bad to pay for this. Please consider donating what you would have spent at Tellico this year. I am going to donate my entrance fees, user fees, and travel costs to the cause. Please consider doing the same.

Let's be honest, the Press Release, the Forest Supervisor's Order, the decision memo and the map were not created this afternoon following a soul searching analysis of the issue by Marisue Hilliard. This is Step 1 of the TU forest monopoly plan.

When they did the temporary closure, it was a mask so they could do just what they have done. This was there plan all along. Who is Candace Wyman’s boss? I think she is in the bed with TU, or at least on the bank roll. She has to answer to someone. But then again it could be that she is taking the fall for her bosses on TU bankroll. I think everyone in that change of command should be audited.

Senator Richard Burr's (R-NC) office is aware of this. They actually called me this afternoon in response to one of my emails. The time is NOW to ramp up our contacts with elected offficials. Pick an office and call Senator Burr...today.

Oh hell yeah she wrote that in February...it's on their website as a draft. She has known that she was going to do this all along.

And you need to go to MariSue Hilliard's boss here in Atlanta, not Candace Wyman's boss (MariSue). Her name is Elizabeth (Liz) Agpaoa. Here is her contact info:

Elizabeth (Liz) Agpaoa
Regional Forester, Region 8
1720 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30309–2449
Phone: 404–347–4177; Fax: 404–347–4821

Be polite, be nice, but be firm and be direct.

Sounds like the same thing they did with Anderson Creek here in GA... close it down for 2 years while they decide what to do and then when everyone has moved on close it for good quietly.

I feel sorry for local land owners of crawfords camp and tellico cabins. I would love to see Helen and her husband move to Harlan and set up something like they had there.

Why did you expect anything else? They made up the game and as long as we play by their rules, they will win. How many times do we have to go down this road before we know the outcome was locked in between the forest service and trout unlimited with a wink and a nod months ago.

I do think that we knew this, but I think we had and HAVE hope. It's not over until we all give up. And that is up to us to decide.

Sorry guys, I'm a little ignorant to this. I used to live over there and wheel there but, live out west now and have watched and tried to contribute where I can to the cause to keep it open. What benefit could anyone be getting out of closing this? Is this not going to crush the small businesses in the area, in an already faultering economy?

Since moving west, I've only had one chance to get back over there to wheel but, I will pool up the cash I can to help this cause.

What about some rallying, marching, whatever get a bunch of street legal rigs and park outside the forest service (or whoevers office) with signs and become more visible.

It's easy to throw away a letter but when you have to deal with a (peaceful) crowd it is now something you MUST deal with. Opens up a dialogue, etc.

we could just go riding anyway. id like to see them deal with about 1000 vehicles going on a trail ride. a nice trail ride not destroying anything but as a protest. do you think they have vehicles that we couldnt drive right over or what

Brilliant! Way to represent the off road community as scofflaws. Great way to drum up support.

(Clarify your statement. It can be read two ways.)

I can't take the lead but the address below is a stone's throw from where I live and I would gladly take a day off work to protest.
