Hello I have a 1986 k5 with a 700r4 and 208c and my issue is when I take off from a dead stop it makes a horrible grinding sound and shake like it's trying to bind up or like slipping splines. I assumed it was the transfercase so I bought a cheap used case. The guy said he thought it was good but couldn't guarantee it. So I put it in and it seems tighter but still there anything over 1/4 throttle still does it. Did I get a bad case or is it something else? Low planetary? I'm lost

Did you bother to check the input spline of either 208?
Did you bother to check the oil/atf in the first one that "failed" ?
Did you bother to check the trans fluid lever/color/glutter % ?
Did you bother to check the rear diff?

Is it all new build or parts youve been running for years?
Did you just buy a bunch of unknown random shit fron fb/clist and are finding out the lesson of "it should be good, im only selling cause i upgraded"

If the diff is good and the atf in the tcase didnt look like a bowling ball/bassboat and you have the same problem with both tcase..........id say your 700r4 is a pos.

Again i ask, is this all new parts youve put together or an extisting driving truck that suddenly shit the bed?

Big tires and shit gear ratio?

Hammer down to hell with the drivetrain or dd?

I could tell you your sprag is awol or your defribulator counter coonhc'd and yould take my word for it right or wrong and go spend $$$.

Information counts and youre not giving me/us all the answers

It's it's blazer that has been sitting for a year due to a spark issue. A new ignition module cured that. So yeah the transfer case is a used unit that was supposed to work but that's the c
Gamble with used parts . Fluid did have metal but not large flakes or any thing it's all a stock k5 with 31s stock 305 no lift nothing.. diff feels smooth and good. Another questions? I've owned it for about a week so I dont know much about the history.. came with a plow so I'm not so sure it was a good history.
